GUIDANCE

There will be a CEC meeting on Wendesday, August 27th during homeroom in room A107. If you’re interested in learning more about this exceptional club, come check us out! If you can’t make the meeting just stop in and see Ms. E.

Calling ALL creative Writers: If you are interested in joining the Pulse Writing Club, please attend a short introduction meeting in Ms. Joyce’s room, A113, after announcements on Wednesday, August 27th.

Kenston Academic Academy (KAA) is now in session. This is an after-school homework & make-up work program that allows all students to have access to the library from 2:30 to 3:30 Mon – Thurs. Please consider taking advantage of this program if you need motivation or help in completing your homework. Also, Mrs. Shepherd is on hand to give you help with study and test-taking strategies. See you there.

Student portal accounts have been created for all new students. Your student ID is the user name, and the password is <firstname initial><lastname initial> and date of birth. flMMDDYY Be sure to change the password after you log-in for the first time. There will be an informational meeting for any student interested in the Business Club in Room C223 on Wednesday, August 27, during Homeroom. Any Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior is eligible to attend.

Students who did not get their student ID picture taken on packet pick-up day need to go to the Auburn Bainbridge room on Wednesday during homeroom or lunch. Student ID’s are free, so get your picture taken!

How would you like to be part of an underground sports ring? Well, with Kenston Underground Bocce Ball League now you can be. Our season begins Friday, September 5th. 2nd announcement:

Ever wonder what it’s like to be part of the coolest club at Kenston? Then become part of the Kenston Underground Unicycle League, ‘Cause it’s cool to be part of K.U.U.L. Classes begin Thursday, September 4th.

Are you interested in raising your SAT score by 100 points or earning a high score on the PSAT National Merit Scholar Test? Kenston Community Education is offering a SAT/PSAT preparation course beginning September 8. The course is six weeks long and is taught by Mr. Koltas and Mr. Marchesi in the KHS library. Registration forms are available in room A119, in the guidance office, and on the KCE website.

ATHLETICS

Congratulations to the Boys cross country team. The team began the 2014 season at the muddy Berkshire Early Bird Invitational. In rough conditions the team placed 6th. Juniors Tyler Cooper & Drew Sanders were the top 2 placers for Kenston followed closely by sophomores Max Fay & Evan Sanders. Freshman Sam Markel ran away the open race, placing first and beating the field by over 45 seconds. Come cheer on the team this Saturday at the 2nd Annual Kenston Frank Gibas Invitational. The event begins at 8:30 am at the Kenston Stadium.
