PACK meeting today during Homeroom in A210. We welcome all political junkies!

Do you write song lyrics or poetry in your free time? Are you someone who has been told by teachers and family that you have a fantastic imagination? Then the Pulse Writing Club welcomes you! This creative writing club will meet on Tuesday, September 16, in Ms. Joyce’s room, Rm. A113, from 2:30-3:15. All creative writers are welcome to join.

On Monday junior class officers will meet in room A119 during homeroom. Attention all student drivers, please make sure your parking permits are displayed on your vehicles. Students who do not have a permit will be assigned after school detentions. When purchasing your permit in the main office, please have your driver’s license, insurance card and a check for $25 to KBOE.

Attention students interested in the Kenston Computer Coding Club! We will hold our first session of the year in Mr. Mason’s room, C136, on Monday after school, 2:30-4:00. Please attend if interested, especially to give an idea of expected attendance. In addition to our usual hangout, we will discuss activities for future sessions. Hope to see you there!

NHS interviews will be after school on Sept 8 and 10. Signup on The NHS bulletin board near C143. Signup spots are limited.

BREAKING NEWS! The BUY BLUE store is opening September 8th during the lunch blocks. You can purchase a variety of school supplies starting at just 50 cents! We will be open on homeroom days so come support the C.E.C. club! Thank you Kenston.

Anyone interested in journalism or video production should attend a meeting during homeroom on Monday in the English computer lab. Whether you see yourself as a future journalist, love writing, or want to create or star in various types of videos, this is the club for you. If you cannot attend, see Mr. Novak in room A111 or talk to Johnny Coming or Ben Princic.

There will be a meeting for anyone interested in being a part of the auditorium tech crew on Weds Sept 9th during homeroom. Meet in the auditorium. See Mrs Wirthwein with any questions.

Do you like food? How about hanging out with friends and learning a little something? Come to Spanish Club on Tuesday September 9th in Mrs. Scola’s room, C215, for some fun and culture. All are welcome, no matter how much Spanish you know.

All seniors who were previously a member of Principal’s Leadership Council, there will be a meeting Monday, September 8, at 7:15 AM to talk about this year’s plans.


Attention sophomores and juniors!! If you are interested in increasing your SAT score by 100 points or preparing for the National Merit Qualifying exam, sign-up for the PSAT/SAT preparation class being offered by Kenston Community Education. Classes begin on Monday and sign-up forms are in guidance.

PSAT REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, SEPT 12. Registration forms are in Guidance and on the Guidance page of our website. Tests are pre-ordered. Don’t miss the registration deadline. This test is given only once a year – Oct. 15, 2014.

COLLEGE VISITATIONS BEGIN MONDAY, SEPT. 8 – Hofstra University from New York at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 – Gannon University from Erie, Pa. – 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 – Baldwin-Wallace University visits at 8:30 a.m. and Friday, Sept. 12 – The University of Colorado at Boulder is here at 10 a.m. and the University of Kentucky is here at 1 p.m. If you’re interested in learning more about any of these colleges, stop in Guidance to sign up. Check the College Visitation schedule on the Guidance bulletin board regularly for upcoming visits.

CLEVELAND BROWN FOUNDATION MARION MOTLEY SCHOLARSHIP is now available. Co-sponsored by College Now Greater Cleveland, the scholarship is for students who plan a career in education or working in a variety of capacities for a professional sports organization. Requirements are a minimum 2.5 cumulative gpa, minimum 18 on the ACT or 860 on math and verbal on the SAT (taken before Sept. 30, 2014) and financial need. Students must clearly articulate academic and career goals, service to the community, maturity and motivation. Students need not be student athletes. Detailed instructions are available in Guidance. Attention all students – Do you need service hours? Do you like to work with younger children? Big Brother Big Sisters are looking for students willing to work with Kenston students in the middle and intermediate schools. Applications are available in the guidance office. All applications are due to Mr. Kimpton by Friday, September 12th.


Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team for WINNING the Dover Invitational this weekend. It is the first invitational won by the girls’ team since 1995. Emma Dicker led the girls with her 3rd place finish. Alexis Fleming and Gabriela Salvini were right behind her at 4th and 7th. A tight pack followed with Emily McDonough, Lauren Lance, and Paige Palmer in 10th, 11th, and 12th. Also finishing on Varsity was Katie Grendell in 21st. Excellent race on some tough hills! Good luck this weekend at Galion!

Morning Open Weight Room sessions will begin tomorrow morning and will last from 6am to 6:50am These open weight room sessions are open to anybody and will be three days a week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays going forward. See you in the morning.
