The Boys Basketball team won a share of the CVC title on Friday, February 20th by defeating the Perry Pirates (17-3), who had beaten the Bombers a few weeks earlier. There was a unique feeling in the gym prior to the game knowing this would be the last CVC championship the Bombers Basketball team would be competing for. The game was tight throughout the first half until Perry went on a mini run to end the half sending the Bombers into the locker room down by 5. Kenston came out strong in the second half winning the third quarter by 3 and the fourth quarter by 8. Many huge free throws were made down the stretch to seal the game by CJ Maynard and Drew Sova. CJ Maynard led the game with 26 points. When I asked him what the team did after halftime to get this win and what one last CVC title meant to him he said, “We put in the work that was necessary to get the job done. It was amazing to be a part of something that meant so much to Kenston.” This win gave the boys a regular season record of 18-4 which included being 10-2 in the conference. Kenston will host a home playoff game on March 4th against the Glenville Tarblooders at 7 p.m.
