Kent State Geauga Campus in Burton is hosting a MAJORS AND JOBS FAIR Wednesday, March 18, from 4-7 p.m. Open to anyone seeking a job-internship or exploring majors!!  Explore majors, jobs, internships, talk with faculty and employers. Wear your interview clothes and interact with tables of employers and faculty/majors. Special information sessions include: middle childhood education from 4:30-5 p.m.; computer technology from 5-5:30 p.m. and Nursing from 5:30-6 p.m. More information at http://www.geauga.kent.edu or call 440.834.4187.

10th grade students, OGT info this week: Please report to the main gym at the 7:45 bell. You do not need to bring anything as pencils and calculators will be provided. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday testing will take place in the morning. Afternoon testing will take place on Tuesday and Thursday and all 10th graders will be eating lunch during 3A. On these days you will report directly to the gym after the 3A dismissal bell. If you have any questions please ask your teacher or stop in the main office.

GUIDANCE:
*Students who are interested in pursuing Creative Careers and considering a college of art and design may be interested in
Cleveland Institute of Art’s pre-college summer residential program. Open to all high school students, to focus on one of 11 art programs including animation, biomedical, identity through print, 3D modeling, art and design, game design, glassblowing, graphic design, illustration, industrial design and painting. *The University of Dayton offers summer honors Engineering Camps June 14-19 or June 21-26 and Women in Engineering Summer Camp July 12-17. For more information, see Guidance.

*Volunteers are needed for the Geauga Spring Clean-up Days!! You and your friends are invited to help clean a senior citizens yard. Many senior citizens can no longer get out to rake, weed, or clean up yard debris. By volunteering your time, you would make a huge difference to a senior citizen and allow them to live in a safe, clean environment. Generally, volunteers are assigned close to their homes to make the most of their volunteer time. The kick-off for this worthwhile event will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2015. Individuals or groups who can help, please contact Bob Debevits at 440-279-2130. More information is available in Guidance. Remember to pick-up your Community Service form in the Guidance Office to earn your service hours!!!

*The very popular Pharmacy Summer Camp held at the University of Toledo is offered June 14-17 and June 21-24. The application deadline is April 1, 2015.  If you are interested, go to utoledo.edu/pharmacy and click on pharmacy camp.

*Are you interested in a career in biomedical engineering? Want to learn more about what biomedical engineers do? Attend a free one-night class from 4-6:30 p.m. April 1 at Great Lakes NeuroTechnologies in Valley View. Space is limited to 40 registrants and registration is due March 23. All high school students are welcome – enjoy a pizza dinner and engage in five 20-minute sessions including medical device development, biomedical research, software programming, product manufacturing and biomedical career paths. Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Academic & Vocational SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS HERE. Deadline is mailed by March 31 (drop in Guidance – before spring break).
Students who plan to pursue vocational training following high school are encouraged to apply. Several scholarships are available for both academics and vocational. Deadline is mandatory. Late applications will not be accepted.

*A two-week summer institute at Cleveland State is available to all high school students. Students interested in health and medical professions can apply online through March 27. The CHAMPS program runs June 15-26. Details at www.csuohio.edu/CHAMPS (case sensitive).

*Seniors! Any senior interested in speaking at commencement should type their speech and turn it in to Mr. McDevitt in the main office no later than Friday, March 27. When we return from spring break, applicants should be prepared to present their speech to a panel of judges.

*Do you need volunteer hours? Timmons Elementary is hosting a Family Night on Friday, March 20and need volunteers from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Students will be in charge of helping with an activity such as magician, Jungle Terry, martial arts, lego robotics, dance group and/or lobby distribution of maps and prizes.
