Creative Artists Association Annual Portfolio Competition SCHOLARSHIP is available for any student planning in majoring in art education at college or an art school. Portfolios must be DROPPED off at Wildwood Cultural Center in Mentor from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 20 through NOON TODAY, on April 24. CDs may be mailed or delivered to arrive no later than April 23.

SHOUT OUT to Devyn Gaskins! She’s a finalist in this year’s Stop the Hate®: Youth Speak Out. Three thousand 6-12th graders from across Northeast Ohio shared their thoughts on ending intolerance and indifference as part of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage’s annual $100,000 essay contest. After 514 volunteer readers graded the entries (each was read three times), 27 finalists emerged, representing 19 different schools throughout the region. All of the student finalists will be recognized at the Stop the Hate®Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 30 at 6pm at the Cleveland Museum of Art Gartner Auditorium.

On Tuesday, April 28 the senior field trip “Your Life Your Choice” will take place at Parkside. All senior students will report to cafeteria after 1st block. Upon return, about 12:30 PM, students will have lunch and then report to the senior assembly in the auditorium. Please dress appropriately for the occasion! Do not wear t-shirts or sweat shirts. NEW! Dominion Diversity Scholarship Program Summer 2016 is for graduating seniors or current college students who will graduate from college in 2017 or later. Must have a 3.0 GPA, be a full-time college student in fall 2015 at an accredited two- or four-year college. If accepted, students must commit to a paid 10-12 week intern work session during the 2016 summer session. Students will receive a $5,000 scholarship after they’ve completed the summer work session and submitted their final transcripts for the 2015-2016 academic year in college.
