What year did you start teaching and where?: Kenston High School, 2007
Why did you become a teacher?: I wanted to inspire students to get excited to be outside, to choose experiences over things and see that geology is all around us.
Why did you choose your discipline?: I chose to study geology because I enjoy learning about the natural world around us, gaining an understanding of why the world looks the way it does and I love that geology takes you to fantastic places all over the world. Geology is everywhere, the classroom ranges from the backyard to the summits of mountains and everything in between.
What hobbies / interests do you have?: Ice climbing, rock climbing, trail running, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking/camping, big days in the mountains, strolls in the woods with my wife, son, and dog.
What is your favorite food?: Pizza and Burritos (they are the ultimate pre and post meal before and after a big day out).
What is your favorite Movie or TV show?: The Office and Parks and Rec
What is your favorite book?: Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey, The New American Road Mix Tape by Brendan Leonard, and/or East of Eden by John Steinbeck
Where is your favorite place to travel?: Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Vermont
