Winter Sports Teams’ Accomplishments

Today, March 15, 2018, is the Winter Sports Banquet honoring Kenston High School’s Winter Athletes. This season alone, many accomplishments were made by the winter sports teams. The girls basketball team became district champions for the first time in Kenston history making it all the way to the regional semifinals finishing with a record of 18-8 and a WRC record of 11-2. The boys basketball team made it to the sectional finals and finished with an overall record of 15-9. The girls bowling team finished their season with a record of 11-2 and the boys bowling team finished with a record of of 5-10. Both Kenston swim teams competed at Sectionals achieving a combined 61 personal records with several members making it to Districts earning 8 more personal records. Sophomore Mary O’Neil advanced to states and placed 10th overall. The gymnastics team had a good season and placed 6th at sectionals. The hockey team had a record of 26-8-1 and were nominated and won High School Team of the Year. The wrestling team had an overall good season and placed 3rd as a team at Division I Sectionals. Junior Joe Koplow placed fourth at districts and qualified for State. Senior gymnast Isabel Villanueva said, “Overall all the winter sports teams have had successful seasons.” Kenston is proud of all of the high school winter athletic teams and their accomplishments this season.
