Kenston senior Michael Rockefeller stole home in the bottom half of the 7th inning, leading the Bombers to a thrilling 7-6 come from behind victory over Saline, MI at the Cancer Awareness Classic at Kent State University Field. Bomber sophomore captain Tyler Mintz led off the bottom of the 7th inning and ripped a double to left field off senior Hornet closer Cole Daniels. Rockefeller then singled, moving Mintz to 3rd base, then stole second base on the next pitch. After a wild pitch scoring Mintz, Rockefeller’s hustle and heads up play on a subsequent pitch ended the game and secured Kenston to a victory over a high quality opponent in Saline, MI. Kenston out-hit Saline 10-4, with Rockefeller leading the way with 3 hits, while senior Michael Koniar had 2 hits. Hornet senior Paul Kiyabu led Saline with 2 hits. Hornet’s Daniels plated 2 runs. Kenston junior Blaise Gorski started on the bump and pitched 4 strong innings, yielding just 1 hit and 0 runs. Bomber senior Stephen Szczesniak picked up his 2nd win in relief. Kenston improves to 9-6 overall, while Saline, MI drops to 11-2 on the season.
