All seniors are required to have proof of the meningococcal vaccine on file in the clinic PRIOR TO the beginning of the 2018-19 school year. By state law, students will not be allowed to stay in school longer than 14 school days unless proof has been received on all required immunizations. Note: students who had the first dose prior to age 16 must have the second dose before entering 12th grade. Documentation can be a signed note from the physician’s office or an immunization summary printout. Proof must include the month, day, and year of the dose. Deadline: Wednesday, Sept. 5th.
STUDENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AND SERVICE HOURS:
Did you know that one way to stand out with your high school RESUME is by how much you volunteer and WHERE you volunteer? It’s best to spread your volunteer hours out over a couple DIFFERENT areas and not just one place to show you are well-rounded. When you graduate from Kenston, students with 60 HOURS OR MORE of community service will wear a blue cord around their neck–it’s a nice honor to have and easy to do since Kenston offers so many opportunities. If you’re a freshman, you only need to log at least 15 HOURS PER YEAR and by the time you are a senior, you’ll have the 60 hours that you need.
*THE CHAGRIN FALLS PARK COMMUNITY CENTER is in need of some after school tutoring assistance for students in grades 1-5. We are looking to have high school volunteers go to the Community Center one day a week for a couple of hours after school to assist these younger students. Volunteers should be willing to serve a positive role-model and mentor for these younger students. Community service hours will be awarded to high school participants. If you are interested in signing up to be a tutor, please email Mrs. Detwiler or stop into the Guidance office to see her. This is a great opportunity for students to help their community and build connections with our younger Kenston students!
*KENSTON ACADEMY in the Library needs volunteers to help other students. See Mrs. Dixon in Room C143A if you would like to become a tutor and earn service hours.
*VOLLEYBALL: If any student would like to assist the VOLLEYBALL TEAM, please see Mrs. Everts, Rm B124. Help is needed with line judging for ninth grade home matches, students to rotate volleyballs during a match, and score keepers for freshmen matches. Community service hours will be given.
*THE FOOTBALL TEAM needs a student to manage technology, video, and computer input. Stop in and see Coach Grubich or Coach Anderson if interested. Community service hours and compensation will be made for time invested.
