Kenston Boy’s Soccer improved their record this past Tuesday, September 11th, recording a 3-1 win against the Eastlake North Rangers. Their record is now 4-3-1 securing their position as 1st place in the Western Reserve Conference. The game got off to a rough start for the Bombers as they allowed a goal within the first 30 seconds of the game. They continued to play a physical game and quickly replied as starting Kenston mid-fielder, Donovan Maynard (#19), scored on a penalty kick. He followed this up with another goal just a few minutes later. In the second half starting Kenston forward, Michael Persichetti (#2), scored an outstanding bar-down goal to give Kenston a comfortable lead. Kenston’s defense played very connected and communicated very well resulting in few shots after their 1st half blunder.
Several players were very happy with the outcome of this game especially starting Kenston mid-fielder, Carter McAbier (#3), who had several things to say about the outcome of this game.
How do you think Kenston played against Eastlake North?
“I think the opening five minutes were terrible, but I think we improved the rest of the game.”
Do you think Kenston will carry this positive momentum into their next game against North Olmsted?
“I think if we keep a serious mindset leading up to the game then we will carry this positive momentum into our next game, unlike what we did leading up to our game against Eastlake North.”
Can you break down Eastlake North’s first half goal?
“They played it to their outside mid who accelerated and took off down the line. Then, he managed to get a cross in which went through our entire defense and snuck into the goal.”
This was a great win for Kenston as it should provide them with plenty of confidence for their upcoming game against North Olmsted. The game is at North Olmsted on Saturday, September 15th at 7:00 P.M.
