The Kenston boys tennis team tied for first place at the Lexington Invitational, defeating seven teams from all over Northern Ohio including tennis powerhouses Canfield, Hoover, and Lexington.
The second doubles team of Max McNeal and Nick Silva led the Bombers by earning second place. Although the Bombers did not win any flights, a team effort propelled them to the tournament victory.
“Walking into that tournament I was really unsure of how we were going to do, but actually leaving with some hardware and not to mention another first place for the team was an amazing feeling,” said senior doubles player Nick Silva.
The tennis team is undefeated so far in the season. They are 9-0 in regular matches. They also won the St. Edward’s invitational.
“Winning the St. Ed’s Invitational was a huge achievement for us. We knew there were going to be some very solid teams going into it but I think we match up well against anyone. We normally aren’t even invited to that tournament so to win it all was a big statement,” said junior singles player Bryce Grossman.
The Bombers next match will be against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy on April 23.
