Happy Palindrome Week!

School Spirit tastes great–especially when it tastes like Chipotle. Support the Bomberette Dance Team by eating at Chipotle in Solon between 4 and 8 pm TONIGHT. 33% of the proceeds will be donated to the Bomberettes. Stop in the Main Office to take a picture of the flyer with your smartphone.

Attention ALL STUDENTS – it is time to sign up for the BOMBER GAMES! Check your school email or the website for the Google Form to sign up. Sign-ups will take place all week – we need as many students as possible! Which class will reign as the Bomber Games Champions?!?! This year students from each grade can compete in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. The Bomber Games begin on Thursday, Sept. 26. Space is limited so sign up quickly!

International Day of Peace (observance) is this Friday, September 20. Kenston will be celebrating across the district. Here at the high school, we will be celebrating by wearing tye-dye. During 3rd block, students will write a positive message on a paper chain link.

NHS Applicant Interviews– Sign-up sheets are located outside of the Guidance Office. Interviews are Tuesday and Wednesday after school.

Picture Makeup Day is Tuesday, September 24th for any student still requiring a student I.D. All students are expected to have a valid student I.D. All seniors should plan to take advantage of the FREE session for a Senior Picture for the Yearbook. Ripcho will be here to take a complimentary, professional picture—sorry, you cannot purchase this picture, it is only for the yearbook.

Attention anyone interested in playing softball this year. There will be a player/parent meeting today at 7 pm in the Auburn-Bainbridge room. If you are unable to attend, see Coach Dubovec in room C219 for information.

A reminder that the Hub is open for anyone afterschool to get a head start on homework and studying. This also applies to anyone who needs extra help or tutoring through Kenston Academy. Times are Monday-Thursday from 2:20-3:20. No need to sign up, just come in!

If you are interested in going on the 2020 summer Kenston Field Experience please plan on attending an informational meeting on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the AB Room. If you have questions or can’t attend the meeting, please see Mr. Turk in room B129

Picture Make-up Day: Tuesday, September 24th in the Band Room.

Senior Yearbook Photo: All seniors should plan to take advantage of the FREE session for Senior Picture for the Yearbook on Tuesday, Sept. 24th (10–1:00 PM, Band Room). Ripcho will be here to take a complimentary, professional picture—sorry, you cannot purchase this picture, it is only for the yearbook. Senior portrait specifications for other Photographers: Size—no less than 300 dpi. Pose—only traditional full color portrait, head and shoulders only. Background—must be on the spectrum from cobalt to navy blue (no light blue). No hats, props, hands or inappropriate clothing. Submit your photograph electronically by email attachment to: justin.fodor@kenstonapps.org or on a CD. Under no circumstances will a senior portrait be scanned from a print. Geauga County voter registration cards are now available in Guidance. To vote in the November 5 General Election, the registration deadline is Monday, October 7 at 9:00 PM. Students 17 years old who will be 18 on or before November 5, 2019, may register to vote.

This week we will host: Lakeland Community College, University of Mount Union, Elon University NC, University of Colorado Boulder, The Ohio State University, and Ohio Wesleyan University

Any students interested in doing some volunteer tutoring with the Young Scholars program though Chagrin Falls Park please pick up an application in guidance. You can earn service hours working with this program as well.

Seniors – VFW Chagrin Falls Post is offering an essay contest with a $1,000 prize for first and two $500 honorable mention awards. Essays of 500 words or less on “What Does Veterans Day Mean to Me?” See Guidance for more information.

Protect Geauga Parks offers three $1,000 scholarships for those majoring in natural or environmental sciences. Guidelines are available in Guidance. The scholarship requires an essay and 2 letters of recommendation. The deadline 6:00 PM Oct. 6, 2019.

Denison University offers an overnight program “Dialogue with Denison” on November 2-4 for academically qualified students from under-represented populations. Application deadline is October 1. If interested, see Guidance.

LOST & FOUND ITEMS: Please stop by the Main Office if you have lost something or if you have found something that someone has lost. Our drawers already have things from this year– jewelry, planner, sweatshirts and more. If you lost something that hasn’t been found yet, fill out a form so we can notify you when it’s found!
