Calling All Bombers: Our Football team is in the running for the Cleveland Browns Game of the Week. If we win this poll, our football teams gets $2,500. That’s two thousand five hundred dollars! Vote now!!!

The Bomber Games begin on Thursday, Sept. 26. This year students from each grade can compete in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. Sign up today by using the Google Form on in your email inbox or the KHS website.

Have you ever dreamed of being a television star? Can you easily recall interesting facts. Why not combine these talents and try out for the Academic Challenge television show. Tryouts will be held this Friday after school in C138. If you can’t make the tryouts but would still like to be considered contact Mr. Koltas this week.

International Day of Peace (observance) is this Friday, September 20. Kenston will be celebrating across the district. Here at the high school, we will be celebrating by wearing tye-dye. During 3rd block, students will write a positive message on a paper chain link.

NHS Applicant Interviews– Sign-up sheets are located outside of the Guidance Office. Interviews are today and tomorrow after school.

Kenston Connect Leaders: There is a meeting this Wednesday, September 18, at 7:00 A.M. in the HUB.

Come help the Girls Tennis team celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday, Sept. 18th after their match vs Willoughby South! Announcements will take place about 6:00 PM.

Congressman David Joyce is hosting a Military Academy information day this Saturday, September 21 at 9:30 at the Auburn Career Center Technology Learning Building. Representatives from all five service academies will be present to answer your questions.

If you are interested in going on the 2020 summer Kenston Field Experience please plan on attending an informational meeting on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the AB Room. If you have questions or can’t attend the meeting, please see Mr. Turk in room B129

A reminder that the Hub is open for anyone afterschool to get a head start on homework and studying. This also applies to anyone who needs extra help or tutoring through Kenston Academy. Times are Monday-Thursday from 2:20-3:20. No need to sign up, just come in!

Picture Make-up Day: Tuesday, September 24th in the Band Room.

Senior Yearbook Photo: All seniors should plan to take advantage of the FREE session for Senior Picture for the Yearbook on Tuesday, Sept. 24th (10–1:00 PM, Band Room). Ripcho will be here to take a complimentary, professional picture—sorry, you cannot purchase this picture, it is only for the yearbook. Senior portrait specifications for other Photographers: Size—no less than 300 dpi. Pose—only traditional full color portrait, head and shoulders only. Background—must be on the spectrum from cobalt to navy blue (no light blue). No hats, props, hands or inappropriate clothing. Submit your photograph electronically by email attachment to: justin.fodor@kenstonapps.org or on a CD. Under no circumstances will a senior portrait be scanned from a print. GUIDANCE NEWS:

Geauga County voter registration cards are now available in Guidance. To vote in the November 5 General Election, the registration deadline is Monday, October 7 at 9:00 PM. Students 17 years old who will be 18 on or before November 5, 2019, may register to vote.

This week we will host: Lakeland Community College, University of Mount Union, Elon University NC, University of Colorado Boulder, The Ohio State University, and Ohio Wesleyan University

Any students interested in doing some volunteer tutoring with the Young Scholars program though Chagrin Falls Park please pick up an application in guidance. You can earn service hours working with this program as well.

Seniors – VFW Chagrin Falls Post is offering an essay contest with a $1,000 prize for first and two $500 honorable mention awards. Essays of 500 words or less on “What Does Veterans Day Mean to Me?” See Guidance for more information.

Protect Geauga Parks offers three $1,000 scholarships for those majoring in natural or environmental sciences. Guidelines are available in Guidance. The scholarship requires an essay and 2 letters of recommendation. The deadline 6:00 PM Oct. 6, 2019.

Denison University offers an overnight program “Dialogue with Denison” on November 2-4 for academically qualified students from under-represented populations. Application deadline is October 1. If interested, see Guidance.

Our drawers already have things from this year– jewelry, planner, sweatshirts and more. If you lost something that hasn’t been found yet, fill out a form so we can notify you when it’s found!
