Day #5 of Starting with Hello in other Cultures: In Zimbabwe and Mozambique, the first person claps their hands once, and then in response, the second person claps twice.

Attention all 9th grade students – your Bomber Game shirts are in the main office. Please see Mrs. Tucholski or Mrs. Taylor in the main office.

In keeping with the Homecoming Spirit and Tradition, each day will have a theme!

● Friday 9/27 – Class Color Day (Wear your class color shirt or your Bomber Game t-shirt from last year.)
● Monday 9/30 – Neon Day
● Tuesday 10/1 – Disney Character Day
● Wednesday 10/2- Western Wednesday
● Thursday 10/3 – Era Day (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s) student choice
● Friday 10/4 – Kenston Krazies Theme: “Black Out”

The Homecoming Door Decorating Contest – Judging will take place on Friday after school!

The Homecoming Dance is October 5th! Remember if you plan to ask a student from another school, you must fill out a DANCE GUEST FORM, and get it approved by an Administrator at BOTH schools! FIRST: Your guest will need approval from THEIR Administrator, THEN, then you will need approval from a KHS Administrator. ONLY when the form is complete can you purchase a ticket for your Guest, usually the week prior. Don’t wait until the last minute to get all the signatures needed! You can pick up a GUEST FORM in the Main Office or Guidance. Turn your completed Guest information into the Main Office for a KHS Administrator to approve.

Homecoming Tickets are on sale now! Buy tickets online for $16.50 each or during lunch on Wednesday 10/2, Thursday 10/3, or Friday 10/4 for $15. Don’t forget your to have your DANCE GUEST FORM, submitted for approval before purchasing your ticket.

The Bomber Games event today is Basketball @ TES. Games start at 4:00 and will last until about 6:30. Which class will reign victorious!!!!

LAST DAY FOR YEARBOOK–EARLY BIRD SPECIAL is Sept 30th! Order forms are in the Main Office, Guidance or order online from the link on the homepage. Remember, seniors–your yearbook will be sent to your home around this time next year and will not be delivered to the school.

Do you want to win the chance to host an extraordinary tailgate party before the Chardon Football game, starring the Kenston Marching Band and Bomberette Dance Team? Purchase a Band on Demand raffle ticket for your chance to WIN and the Kenston band and dance team will perform in your front yard, neighborhood common area or location of your choice. Show your Bomber Pride and invite your friends and neighbors to witness the extravaganza! KHS Marching Band and Bomberette students will be selling raffle tickets through September 30th. Tickets are $5.00 each or 4 for $20.00. Drawing will take place during the football game on October 4th (winner does not need to be present to win). The Band on Demand performance will take place on October 11, 2019. Location must be in the Kenston School District. Proceeds benefit the Musical Arts Association at Kenston.

Interact Club would like to wish you a happy National Day of Giving! Celebrate today by donating to Interact’s school supply drive for Cuyahoga County Libraries and the Food Drive going on through October. See Mrs. Brust in A117 for details.

French students (especially those who will be in the AP class this spring) there are a few spots left for the trip to Quebec Over spring break! Please see Mrs. Wahl asap if you’re interested in going!

The Pulse Writing Club, a creative writing club, will meet Monday, September 30, during Homeroom. See Ms. Joyce in A113 if you have any questions.

Join the Kenston Swim & Dive Team! Swim Team tryouts are October 25th @2:45pm at the CVAC pool. Dive team practices start October 25th at Solon High School Natatorium. Final Forms must be completed to participate. Divers also need to register with American Flyers Diving. Please contact Coach KC with any questions: kari.collier@kenstonapps.org

A reminder that the Hub is open for anyone afterschool to get a head start on homework and studying. This also applies to anyone who needs extra help or tutoring through Kenston Academy. Times are Monday-Thursday from 2:20-3:20. No need to sign up, just come in!

Senior portrait specifications for other Photographers: Size—no less than 300 dpi. Pose—only traditional full color portrait, head and shoulders only. Background—must be on the spectrum from cobalt to navy blue (no light blue). No hats, props, hands or inappropriate clothing. Submit your photograph electronically by email attachment to: justin.fodor@kenstonapps.org or on a CD. Under no circumstances will a senior portrait be scanned from a print. GUIDANCE NEWS:

Attention Juniors and Seniors! The Lake County Fall College Fair is being held this Sunday, September 29, from noon until 1:30 PM in the main gym at Lakeland Community College. This event is free and open to the public. For more details please go to www.lakelandcc.edu/collegefair. This is a great opportunity to speak with college representatives from all over the United States. Please plan to attend!!!

Solon Community Center Aquatics is hiring lifeguards after school and weekends. Applicants must be at least 15 and hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate. You may apply without a certification and, if hired, be required to take the certification at no cost through the Solon Community Center. They are hiring staff for summer 2020 now. See Guidance for more information.

Any students interested in doing some volunteer tutoring with the Young Scholars program though Chagrin Falls Park please pick up an application in guidance. You can earn service hours working with this program as well.

Seniors – VFW Chagrin Falls Post is offering an essay contest with a $1,000 prize for first and two $500 honorable mention awards. Essays of 500 words or less on “What Does Veterans Day Mean to Me?” See Guidance for more information.

Protect Geauga Parks offers three $1,000 scholarships for those majoring in natural or environmental sciences. Guidelines are available in Guidance. The scholarship requires an essay and 2 letters of recommendation. The deadline 6:00 PM Oct. 6, 2019.

Denison University offers an overnight program “Dialogue with Denison” on November 2-4 for academically qualified students from under-represented populations. Application deadline is October 1. If interested, see Guidance.

LOST & FOUND ITEMS: Please stop by the Main Office if you have lost something or if you have found something that someone has lost. Our drawers already have things from this year– jewelry, planner, sweatshirts and more. If you lost something that hasn’t been found yet, fill out a form so we can notify you when it’s found!
