Do you ever feel the urge for physical activity during the winter but don’t want to play basketball or wrestle? Well, do I have the sport for you, Indoor Track. Come join your friends every day at parks all around Geauga County like South Chagrin Reservation, West Woods, Frohring Meadows, Beartown Lakes, and Polo Fields. Indoor Track has practices outside every day. Other than warm clothes and some running shoes you don’t need anything else. Besides being enjoyable its a great chance to meet new friends.
We will run 4-5 meets throughout the season at the Spire Institution. Spire is about an hour away in Geneva. The meets are competitive against other division one running schools but not to the point that it’s not fun. If you ask any of the athletes that have done it in previous years they will say that it’s a ton of fun. The team is split into two main groups, distance runners and sprinters. Coach Ickes makes sure everyone knows where practice is every day and what each athlete knows what to do.
Lastly, there is plenty of team bonding opportunities from post-Saturday runs at Einsteins Bagels to Wendy’s meals after the races. There is lots of time for snowball fights and sledding too! Athlete David Rosinski said, “Indoor Track is a great way to stay in shape for spring sports and provides opportunities to meet new friends.”
Be on the lookout for future information about the start date once Cross Country season ends. Hope to see you there!
