Boys Soccer Season Comes to an End
The Kenston boys soccer team has finished their season with the record of 10 wins, 3 losses and 5 ties, and the record of 6-1-2 in Division 1 games. After their first loss early in the season the team did not lose again until they faced Lake Catholic. The team also dealt with some unfortunate ties against both West Geauga and Chagrin Falls. However, the team was able to come together once again near the end of the season to defeat Willoughby South, 4-1, on Senior Night. The team then faced the very strong rival, Aurora. The boys dominated the Aurora team and came out with a 4-1 win to highlight the season. Coach Vasil said “They came out strong; the way we played that night we could compete with any team.”
The team then started the playoffs with a game against Warren Howland. The Bombers struck first with a goal in the middle of the first half. Howland then countered with a goal right after the start of the second half. With only 6 minutes left TJ Kestranek scored for the Bombers, which led the team to victory. The team then traveled to Hudson. Hudson won a penalty kick early in the game, which gave them the lead. The Bombers fought back hard but were unable to comeback. The game ended 2-0 and ended the season for the team. The team will graduate 10 seniors this year, which will create a great opportunity for young players to step up and make a difference in the program. Sophomores Harley Vossler and Dom Marra said “Its sad seeing all the seniors leave but I feel that we can be strong next year.” Well done boys and good luck next season!
