BAINBRIDGE, Ohio — Maple Heights went on the road to open boys basketball sectional play Wednesday and pulled a minor upset, defeating Kenston, 50-32, in Division I Euclid District action.
The Mustangs, seeded No. 10, were led by Maurice Wilson with 12 points and Anthony Schmook with 11. Leading by eight after three quarters, the Mustangs finished the game with a 21-11 scoring advantage in the final period. Now 17-6, Maple Heights plays in a sectional final game Saturday at 4 p.m. at No. 7 Brush.
Seeded No. 8, Kenston (17-6) was led by Jay Weemhoff, who scored half the team’s points.
