Five Kenston athletes signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic careers in college last Wednesday.
Elyse Myles and Mary O’Neill will both be competing at Division I schools next year. Myles will run track at North Carolina Asheville and O’Neill will dive at North Carolina State University.
“I decided on NC State mainly because of the animal science and vet program, but also because the campus is beautiful with a modern feel,” said O’Neill.
Girls lacrosse player Julia Piazza signed with Division II Wingate University.
“I liked the campus and it was a good fit for me academically. I really love the lacrosse team and the coaches,” said Piazza.
Volleyball players Rachel Apshago and Abby Bednar signed with Division II Clarion University and Division II Southern Indiana University.
“I am excited to go into college knowing I will have a team to rely on and be with all the time. It is going to be like a second family,” said Apshago.
These will not be the only Kenston students continuing their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. There will be another signing day on Dec. 18 at 10:30 am in the main gym.
