On Saturday, February 8, the band, Close To Second, represented Kenston in Tri-C’s annual High School Rock off at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The group competed against twelve other high school bands for a chance to win $1,000, $250 for Kenston’s music program, and an opportunity to open for a national attraction produced by Live Nation in Northeast Ohio. Unfortunately, Close To Second did not advance to the final exam; however, the band certainly went out with a memorable performance. During their fifteen minute set, the group put on a lively show including everything from masterful guitar riffs to some unforgettable dance moves. Not to mention that they even debuted a few of their previously-unreleased original songs. Needless to say, the crowd of Kenston supporters was not disappointed, a point made evident by the shouts of adoration for the band. While Saturday’s performance was Close To Second’s last show in the High School Rock Off, it is does not mark the band’s final opportunity to represent Kenston onstage.
