The OHSAA has extended the period of time during which no formal athletic practices or competitions may be held through May 1st. Although no practices have been held, many athletes on the track team have continued to train for the upcoming season on their own, optimistic that the season will go on in May. Junior and three-year member of the varsity track team Tyler McMahan says, “The conditions are down, but our hopes are up. We have been working hard for this season and are looking forward to the start of competition.”
The girls’ team is looking for their first WRC championship this year coming off a second place finish last year, while the boys look to bounce back from a third place finish last year which ended their championship streak. Although the details of the season are uncertain, the team is hopeful that competition will once again take place starting in May.
