2020 National Honor Society Blood Drive 

June 10 from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Adam Hall.  

Registration is required.  

There is currently a desperate need for blood among our health institutions due to the COVID19 pandemic.  In an effort to help with this, the National Honor Society is holding another blood drive on Wednesday, June 10 from 9:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Adam Hall located in Auburn Township.  This is available to all Seniors, Juniors and 16 year old Sophomores.  There will be no walk-ins.  To register email one of the following National Honor Society representatives with your name, email address and preferred time:

Please bring a  Parent Consent Form if you are 16 or 17!.

Reservations are required in order to obtain the Google Meet Invitation. Please register for the session online here or email admin@leaf-ohio.org.

The sessions are free. Parents and students are both encouraged to “attend”. LEAF (Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation) is a nonprofit that delivers career and college access advisory programs that connect individuals to their best-fit careers. Renee Morgan, LEAF advisor for our school, is available throughout the school year for virtual meetings to discuss the financial aid process and can be reached anytime at Rmorgan@leaf-ohio.org.

All yearbook orders are now $75 and can be ordered through the end of May.  Link for the order form is on the KHS webpage.

If you are having an issue with your Chromebook, please complete the Chromebook Repair Form that is located on the website.  The Technology Department will be notified and will send a follow up email to you via your school provided email account with a drop off date and instructions.  Devices should not be dropped off without prior confirmation from the Technology Department.  Once instructed, the student/parent/guardian will drop off the device in the KMS front office entrance.  If a londer is required, the student/parent will pick up the chromebook with the student’s name on it.  (The front office entrance is under camera surveillance and will be checked if necessary.  Once the Chromebook is repaired, the student will receive an email with instructions on when the Chromebook will be available for pick-up.  If a loaner was borrowed, you can drop off when you pick up the repaired Chromebook.  

GUIDANCE NEWS

TRECA Summer School registration is now open through June 5, 2020 at 4:00 pm SHARP. This is a perfect option for ninth- through twelfth-grade students to complete a course in advance of an upcoming semester OR to make up credit for a course they may have failed. Courses are entirely ONLINE!

  • Classes run June 10-August 5 at 4:00 PM SHARP
  • Transcripts will be sent to school starting August 10 to be included in the student’s permanent transcript.
  • Cost is $95 per .5 credit course

This is a perfect opportunity for those students wishing to take health online at a very reasonable cost, thus freeing up a block in their schedule to take another course here at school.

A paid summer position is available for girls 16 and older as a camp employee with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio.  Serve as camp employees for day and resident camps for girls aged 5-17 from June 4-August 4, 2020. Part-time positions are also available.  Receive free room and board while camp is in session, make lifelong friends with other staff including international staff. No Girl Scout experience is needed.  Details and application are in Guidance.

Check on the web page for 2020 Summer Camps and Programs.  Please call or email the program directly to confirm registration deadline dates given current conditions.  There is something for every interest and ability level!  Engineering, theater, music, business, leadership, study abroad, sports and entertainment, college exploratory, writing workshops, medical, gaming and more.  Be sure to check back regularly for updates.  Please note the registration dates!

A scholarship for JUNIOR student-athletes is available in Guidance.  See Guidance for details.  This is for the class of 2021 only. Deadline, May 30, 2020.

Attention sophomores and juniors:  Are you interested in learning more about business?  A week-long summer business camp will be offered from June 14-19 at Lake Erie College. Participants are eligible to earn 3 college credits through CCP program and Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal for high school credit.  For more information and applications, see Guidance.

INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS:  For individual student and family meetings regarding the college financial aid process, loans, financial aid award letter questions, FAFSA, and scholarships, please contact Renee Morgan, LEAF advisor, at rmorgan@leaf. 

Having a bad day? Contemplating self harm? Stressed? Suicidal? The Copeline is there to help you with all of these things. Geauga Copeline is 24 hour assistance for anyone with mental health issues for you or a friend.  Check out the signs throughout the building.  Remember, it’s okay not to be okay.

ATHLETIC NEWS:

According to OHSAA, all spring sports have been cancelled for the season.  We are saddened for our student athletes, particularly our senior athletes who have lost the opportunity to compete and represent our community on the playing fields.  Our sincerest thanks to all outgoing Bombers and wish them much success as they close their academic careers here.  There is still an untold impact that this ongoing situation presents for Kenston, and even more specifically for our athletic programs, but Mr. Guarnieri will share information and provide direction as next steps are determined.

Do you want to earn some extra money?  Did you know we have a job board located across from the Guidance Office and on our website?  There are employers looking for students like you and are willing to work around your busy schedule!  Take a look: Panera Bread, Aladdin’s, Chagrin Falls Pet Clinic, Giant Eagle, Jekyll’s, Marshall’s, Solon Recreation Center and more!LOST & FOUND ITEMS: Please stop by the Main Office if you have lost something or if you have found something that someone has lost. Items not claimed in the Main Office will be moved to the new Storage Bench by the Concession Stand in the Cafeteria.
