Thursday, October 22nd, headed to Lakeview High School to play in the Sectional Finals. The two teams competed to move on to the District Semi-Finals. This was going to be a very important game for the team. The Bombers knew this wasn’t gonna be an easy win. Lakeview’s team had a record of 14-1 while the Bombers had a record of 14-3. After the whistle, it was a highly competitive game. Both teams wanted to advance to the District-Semi Finals playing their hardest. After a half of a very physical game from both sides, the score still remained 0-0.
Second half, junior Sophia Mighton was able to score a goal for the Bombers making the score 1-0. But, shortly after Mighton’s goal, One of Lakeview’s players was able to score a goal evening out the score 1-1. As the half went on, both teams were playing their best game. The Bombers tried to score on Lakeview’s goalie but they were not able to find the back of the net, resulting in an overtime. A few minutes into overtime, sophomore Ramsey Smith was knocked down by Lakeview’s defense but was able to get up and make an assist to junior Skylar Cornell. Cornell was able to make one of her biggest goals of the season (her 17th goal this year) resulting in the Bombers winning the Sectional Finals 2-1.
The girls will compete in the District Semi-Finals on Monday, October 26th @ Home vs. NDCL.
