Speech and Debate is holding a mock debate! This event is called the fishbowl debate and it will take place next Wednesday night, November 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Hub. We will debate light-hearted topics such as “is a hotdog a sandwich”, “what came first, the chicken or the egg”, or “are clowns scary?” AND a select group of teachers are offering extra credit for attending! Some of these teachers include Mrs. Smith, Mr. Murphy, Mrs. Wirthwein, Mr. Ray, and more! Sign up to attend using the form on the student portal. If you do not feel comfortable debating, you can sign up to watch!

Kenston’s Speech and Debate Team is off to a strong start, having competed in four tournaments thus far this season. In Congressional Debate, Samantha Stephens placed second at the Chagrin Falls tournament and reached quarterfinals at Yale University. In Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Ella Jewell defeated debaters from Cardinal-Mooney and Austintown-Fitch at the John F. Kennedy tournament. The team also had seven members compete at University School’s extemporaneous speaking tournament. If you are interested in joining the team, stop by practice Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights in A112 at 6:30pm.
