Happy Election Day! This week, students in the high school did a simulated election. As these teenagers become closer and closer to the legal voting age, it is extremely important for them to start forming their own political voice. In the 2016 election, if “Not Voting” was a candidate it would have won. As a society based on freedom, we need to teach our young people how crucial their vote is. Engagement in politics to learn more about candidates and choose their representative based on research and involvement instead of their guardians’ political beliefs and hearsay from others creates well-rounded, educated voters who will elect the individual they feel best fits their view for America’s future. Many of these high school students will be voting in the next presidential election, which is why it is so essential for them to start discovering their own civil identities.
