An endangered white rhino was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park

On October 25, a white rhino was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida. Mother, Kendi, gave birth to the 11th white rhino born in the park. There are about 20,000 of these animals in the world, putting it on the endangered species list. Protecting them in the wild is important because they are extremely desirable to poachers. Their horns are valuable because they are used in eastern medicine. Poachers cut the animals’ horns off and leave the remainder of the animal to suffer. Walt Disney’s newest addition to the zoo provides a platform to spread awareness of the horrible events in Africa.
