Luci Blazek and Samantha Stefancin have partnered with Soles 4 Soles for their NHS Senior Project.  Blue collection bins are located in the main entrance hallway and by the student entrance.  Your shoes will help someone in a less fortunate country like Ethiopia.  Bombers, let’s do this!

Attention Underclass Students:  NHS will be putting on a Talent Show on Saturday, October 23rd.  I know that seems like a long way away, BUT, you have time to think about a routine and gather a few friends to get your “act” together and practice during the summer!  We want you to show off your talent!

KENSTON ACADEMY

Is open for business!  Stop in the Hub every Monday through Thursday after school from 2:20 to 3:20 to meet with a tutor or just use the space to work.  All topics will be covered and no appointment is necessary.  Be sure to take advantage of this great resource.

GUIDANCE NEWS:

Guidance just received a $1,000 scholarship for all students grades 9 thru 12.  Apply online but the deadline is Saturday, May 1.  See Guidance for more details.

Senior Deadlines:

Geauga Growth Partnership announced that they are partnering with Ohio Means Jobs to offer a Virtual Job Fair for students who are seeking employment. This job fair will include 25 local employers who are seeking to hire now! This is a great opportunity for students to connect with local businesses, obtain employment and potentially get started on a career path!  If you are interested in participating in this innovative and stress-free way to interview via text/chat/video with hiring recruiters, registration is open and the Spring Virtual Job Fair is May 4th from 11:30 am. – 2:30 pm.  See Guidance for more information.

TRECA’s online summer school registration begins April 7 and runs through June 4.  This is a great opportunity to earn your summer health and PE credit.  Other advanced and remedial courses are available.  See Guidance for information.  Registration is limited, so register early if interested.

Attention Sophomores & Juniors:  Leadership Geauga is hosting the 2021 Summer Youth Institute June 14-24 and is open to current sophomores and juniors only.  The format will be a combination of virtual and in-person outdoor activities.  Application deadline is May 15th and seating is limited.  Information and application at www.leadershipgeauga.org.

Students there are many job opportunities for part-time and summer work posted on the bulletin board outside of the Guidance office and on the job board on the student website.  Please take a look at the new opportunities available.

LEAF

College Financial Aid – Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) is a non-profit organization that provides guidance on college financial aid.  Kenston’s LEAF advisor is Mrs. Renee Morgan and is available for virtual student/family meetings regarding the FAFSA, the CSS profile, scholarships, loans and college application and funding information.  Mrs. Morgan will host a virtual presentation on financial aid this month for all junior and senior families.  Topics will include how your current financial situation can affect selecting a college and a timeline of the financial aid process.  A link to the video will be sent in the near future.  To arrange an individual appointment during the day or in the evening, please contact Mrs. Morgan directly at rmorgan@leaf-ohio.org.

LEAF’s Virtual Information Sessions for the year have been posted on the Guidance webpage – all Kenston families are welcome to register.  The upcoming session is:

➤Juniors/Seniors:  LEAF’s next virtual session for Juniors and Seniors: Manufacturing – Alternative to a 4-Year College on Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.  Do you know many local manufacturers will pay for tuition reimbursement and training?  Get your future started in the new high-tech world of manufacturing.  A virtual tour of a manufacturing facility with Alliance for Working Together (AWT).

ATHLETIC NEWS:

The KHS Main Office has a few copies of the 2020-2021 Winter Sports Program available for $5 if anyone would like to purchase a copy.

Cheerleading tryouts begin on May 10th, 11th, and 12th (5:30-7:00 pm) for tryout clinics.  May 14th @ 3:00 is the tryout date in the KHS main gym.  Show your spirit and become a KHS Cheerleader!!!
