Mexico City subway overpass collapses, killing at least 23 and injuring dozens

An overpass carrying a subway train collapsed in Mexico City late monday killing up to 23 people and some being children.  At least 70 people have been hospitalized and 7 of these people are in serious condition.  A train was traveling on the elevated transit system when part of the overpass collapsed onto traffic below.  The crash sent up a cloud of dust and debri.  The incident happened at 10:25 pm local time.  The mayor said that one survivor was trapped in a vehicle beneath the rubble but was freed and there are no other people stuck.  “The public prosecuters office will carry out all investigations, will make all the expert reports to find out what happened in this accident on line 12 of the subway” said the mayor.

I am sad and truly feel bad for those families that lost someone in the train crash and truly hope the 70 hospitaled patrons will be okay.  But I can not infer what could have caused the subway train to crash unless there was a technical difficulty or maybe a miscommunication.  Overall I hope they figure out the cause of this incident and I hope the injured end up living their lives.
