WRC Track Meet

Thursday, May 14th, the Bombers competed at the Western Reserve Conference meet. The ladies placed fourth overall and the men came in second. Especially in a conference meet, every point towards the teams total is important. That being said, let’s recognize all of the Kenston athletes who scored for the Bombers.

First the field events: In pole vault, Quinn Rinke placed sixth for the ladies with a height of 6’6”. In high jump, Nyla Morrison placed seventh for the ladies with a height of 4’8”. Playing fifth in men’s high jump was Jack Turk with a height of 5’8”. Nyla also placed fifth in long jump with a length of 15’5”. Lucas Simmons dominated the men’s long jump, taking the victory with his 22’2.75” jump. Will Lauer earned third in the men’s long jump with his 21’0.75” leap. Cameryn Walters placed second in the ladies shot put with her 35’5.5” throw, and she placed sixth in discus with 106’7”. Connor Kluesner also placed sixth in discus with a throw of 117’. Kicking off the running events Kicking off the track events was the 4×800. The lady’s team composed of Paige Masson, Katy Klotz, Micayla Paglia, and Emerson Greene placed second with a time of 9:56.61. The men’s 4×800 of Will LAuer, Garrett McConnell, Braden Hunt, and Jack Turk won with a commanding lead in a time of 8:05.14. In the 100 dash, Lucas placed second in 11.25 seconds. Our men’s 4×200 team of Wyatt Koenig, Joey Holodinski, Max Reardon, and Tyler McMahan placed seventh overall with a time of 1:39.66. Three Lady Bombers scored in the 1600; Emerson Greene placed fourth, Ellie Pleune sixth, and Jenny Kapcio seventh. Placing second, third and fourth in the men’s 1600 were Dennis Princic, Braden Hunt, and Garrett McConnell respectively. The ladies 4×100 team of Nyla Morrison, Kenzie Parker, Miranda Wood, and Emily Eichelberger placed sixth overall in 55.34 seconds. The men’s 4×100 team of J.P. Germano, Daniel Eibler, Sean Patrick, and Lucas Simmons finished in a close second with a time of 44.45 seconds. Paige Masson placed second in the lady’s 400 with a time of 1:00.86. Will Lauer placed fifth in the men’s 400, running it in 52.41 seconds. In the lady’s 800, Ellie Pleune placed fourth in 2:32.64. Jack Turk won the men’s 800 and set a new conference record in a time of 1:59.71. Finishing third and sixth in the men’s 800 were Braden Hunt and Garrett McConnell respectively. Paige Masson placed seventh in the 200 with a time of 27.55. Lucas Simmons finished second in the men’s 200 with his 23.22 second showing. Emerson Greene, Jenny Kapcio, and Katy Klotz all did well in the 3200 placing third, seventh, and eighth respectively. Nathan Bertman won the men’s 3200 in 9:42.26. Just behind him were Dennis Princic and Kyle McMahan placing third and seventh. Our ladies 4×400 team placed fifth overall, and our men’s 4×400 team finished off the night with fourth place in their relay.
