Over the weekend, qualifying athletes from across Ohio competed at the indoor track state meet held at Spire Institute. Among the qualifying athletes were several from Kenston. The Bombers competed extremely well in several events ranging from the 400 to the 3200 with several distances in between. Competing for the ladies were Cece Paglia, Paige Masson, Jocelyn Van Skyhock, Emerson Greene, and Ellie Pleune. On the men’s side were Dennis Princic, Braden Hunt, Garrett McConnell, and Will Lauer.
The ladies 4×800 relay, including Paige Masson, Cece Paglia, Emerson Greene, and Jocelyn Van Skyhock, placed 3rd in the state with an impressive time of 9:36.4. Paige also later competed in the open 400, placing 6th in the state with a time of 1:00.05. Cece also placed 14th in the state in the 1600 with a time of 5:20.65. Emerson also competed well in the 3200 with her 11:35.7, which was the second fastest time at the meet for a freshman.
The men’s 4×800 consisted of Braden Hunt, Dennis Princic, Will Lauer, and Garrett McConnell. They placed 6th in the state with a season best of 8:06.17. Will also competed in the 400 and placed 18th overall with an official PR of 52.34 seconds. Both Braden and Garrett went on to compete in the 1600 and placed 12th and 20th respectively with times of 4:29.96 and 4:38.26. Dennis later competed in the 3200 and placed 15th in the state posting a time of 9:34.93.
The Bombers competed fantastically among a rigorous field of fast athletes. Now they will continue to put in the hard work in preparation for their outdoor track season that is quickly approaching.
