Reopening The Economy

President Donald Trump has suggested a three-phase approach to guide governors in returning things to normal within cities that are seeing a decrease in COVID-19 cases. The process is aimed at restoring normal activity to areas that are less affected by the virus, and maintaining restrictions in harder hit areas. The president has given state governors the authority to make their own decisions about social distancing measures based on the situations in their individual states. This gradual process will help re-open the economy without overwhelming the healthcare system and slowly help states return to normal, keeping Americans as safe as possible in the process.

The three-phase plan will begin in areas that have a declining infection rate and have adequate testing/supplies. Phase one of the plan suggests that people still maintain strict social distancing guidelines while also avoiding travel and gatherings of more than 10 people. This is followed by phase two, which allows travel to resume. However, people are still encouraged to maintain social distancing and avoid groups of 50 people or more. Phase three foresees normal life resuming for most Americans, with focus on containing, and hopefully eradicating the virus.
