Outstanding Educator Award

Mrs. Larkin-Gero has just recently won the Outstanding Educator Award from Geauga County. It is originally called the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award Region for State Support Team. According to the State Support Team Website, “The Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award is presented to one educator from each of Ohio’s sixteen SST Regions, who have made extraordinary contributions to the education of students with disabilities.” Also according to the State Support Team Website, “The Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Educator Award is named in honor of Dr. Franklin B. Walter, former superintendent of Ohio’s public instruction, who devoted over 50 years of service developing quality educational initiatives and programs, including the nation’s first statewide plan for children with disabilities.” This award goes out to one person in each county of Ohio and Mrs. Larkin-Gero was the one to win it for Geauga. Mrs. Larkin said, “It is an honor to receive the award. It validates the hard work and effort I put into my teaching position.” Mrs. Larkin also said, “The award is presented to an educator who has been nominated by their fellow teachers. I was nominated for the award by members of my department at Kenston.” So if you see her around, be sure to congratulate her on this award.
