Did you know the history of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? It’s one of the world’s largest parades, and is presented by the U.S. based department store chain Macy’s. It’s tied for the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States behind the America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit. The parade lasts for a total of three hours, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm eastern Standard Time on Thanksgiving Day. It has been televised nationally on NBC since 1952. However, balloons in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade this year may not fly due to wind. Under New York City regulations, winds over 23 mph and gusts over 34 mph call for the balloons to be grounded. This Thursday winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph are predicted. We can only hope that these predictions are false and that the parade can bring joy to many households once again.
